A Better Diet for the Children at Seeds of Hope

pages/Seeds of Hope - November 2009/SeedsOptician2In the last newsletter, we saw how our donations were helping the Seeds of Hope children to develop their IT skills and to access the internet. Over the last three months, the organisers at Seeds have focused on the children’s diet.

After two hours of homework and study, Seeds have been able to offer the children a complimentary meal. It changes every day to ensure the kids receive a nutritious and balanced diet. They’ve already seen improvements with many children now reaching an appropriate height and weight for their age.

The computers that were purchased earlier in the year are also being well used. Seeds are giving the children typing lessons and they are using their new skills to email their pen pals both in Peru and abroad.

Thanks to the profits from the Seeds café all the children had eye tests and new glasses have been purchased for those who need them.

pages/Seeds of Hope - November 2009/Seedsgirl2It’s not all work, work, work though. The volunteers continue to organise field trips and fun days for the children. They’ve had a bit of a circus theme recently, doing clown shows and teaching the kids how to juggle.

Sponsor a Child

Currently there are only four children at Seeds who are sponsored. They are aiming to have all 44 of them sponsored by Christmas. £12 a month will buy a child food, school materials, health coverage and a new uniform and shoes. If you or anyone you know would like to be a sponsor please contact seedsofhoperu@hotmail.com for details. Upon request they will also allow you to see the monthly accounts so you know exactly where your money is going.
