Headway East London Q1 2009

Headway East London are currently planning a number of outings for this summer and OPS money should go a long way towards helping that aim. They are currently planning their summer activities, which should hopefully include picnics, barbecues, trips to museums and art galleries and possibly a trip to the seaside. OPS money is frequently spent on transport and miscellaneous treats on the day. Also, for an outing,  which requires an admission fee, members usually pay a contribution in full or in part depending upon the cost, but this may be subsidised in future, particularly when we know a member is struggling financially.

Headway East London are also now in a position to increase the frequency and the variety of the trips which they go on. In the last quarter and with the help again of OPS contributions, they held two events for our Women’s Group, which takes place on a Monday. The group went for lunch in a local café and also to an exhibition of Madonna costumes. Contributions were mainly spent on transport to take minicabs there and back. Finally, outings have also taken place to the British Museum and to Spitalfields Market to watch a free reggae lunchtime concert. So Headway East London members have been able to enjoy a pretty wide series of events in the first four months of this year alone.
