New! - Volunteering

At OPS we're about much more than just giving. Facilitating volunteering opportunities is something we feel passionatly about. We feel that we can contribute to improving the whole experience from both the volunteer and the host organisation's perspective by:

  • Helping arrange placements for FREE! rather than lining the pockets of outrageously expensive agencies!
  • Working with smaller organisations that can provide people with the scope for more imput and responsibility than bigger established charities perhaps can.
  • Assuring volunteers that the group they are flying half way around the world to work for (or just jumping on the 149 to Shoreditch...either way...) actually exists! and is credible.
  • Liasing closely with charities to properly understand, and where appropriate shape, their volunteering policies, thereby ensuring maximum benefit to all parties.

Give regularly

To become an OPS member we ask that you give a regular donation. We suggest 1% of your net monthly income (after tax), but at the end of the day, the amount is at your discretion.

Our main aim is simply to promote a culture of giving thoughtfully and regularly to those in need. A steady income stream also however helpful to our partner groups as they plan for how to spend the money.

Any member is free to nominate a new charity for the annual review. Alternatively, you can suggest that we as a group, look into a certain issue/area that you feel strongly about, (such as child soldiers or street children etc), and then work alongside the trustees in finding an appropriate charity that addresses the issuee.

Members have significant opportunities to make their views felt and can vote on which charities we support (see FAQs for more info on the voting process), and other major issues affecting how OPS is run. If you are thinking of becoming a member and would like to find out more about OPS please contact us.

Any questions or thinking about becoming a member then please do get in touch - trustees@onepercentscheme.org

Give a one-off donation

If you would like to support the One Percent Scheme but do not feel in a position to give regularly, then a one off donation is still greatly appreciated. Donations can be easily made online and can be restricted to a particular charity or project should you wish. You will of course receive feedback on where you money is going. Again, trustees@onepercentscheme.org to find out more.

Give some of your time

We believe that the OPS has huge potential and are constantly looking for more help and support. If you would like to donate some of your time, either regularly or on an ad hoc basis we would love to hear from you - trustees@onepercentscheme.org

Any other ideas?

We are always looking to improve the idea of OPS and the way the group is run and would welcome any feedback or thoughts. Whether this is simply a comment about our website or an area that you would like OPS to get more involved in, please e-mail us at trustees@onepercentscheme.org
