Chernobyl Childrens Project
And a late entry into the fray…nominated by our very own Treasurer Mrs Daniya Debrito…soon to be Stewart…Congrats to her on that one!...The Chernobyl Childrens Project.
After the infamous disaster in Belarus in the late 1980's, the worst nuclear disaster the world has ever seen, many children in the surrounding area were either left or subsequently born with horrendous disfigurations or cancer.
Many of these children are receiving long term treatment at a local Cancer Hospital , clearly an extremely exhausting, painful and somewhat depressing existence.
Our funds would go towards covering the costs of outings into the capital city of Minsk for these children. These trips help to relieve the boredom of being in hospital for weeks on end during treatment whilst also giving the children the kind of psychological boost which can often prove helpful in aiding their recovery. They might go to the circus, the cinema, have a wander round the city, visit cafes etc.
