About Us
The One Percent Scheme was set up in 2003 by a group of friends. Sick of feeling guilty every time we turned down a tin rattler or tramp we decided to regularly give a little of our money away to charities we had been involved in. 2 years on we now have 20 members and are turning over around £3000 per year.
A general overview of what OPS is about is given on the homepage with more detailed questions about how we operate in FAQs. We hope this site answers all your questions but if not, please contact us.
Trustees
John
Arnold
John likes to go windsurfing in his big white van but has to spend
most of his time working in an office. He lives in Dalston,
East London, which he likes a lot and is also trustee for
the charity Engineers Without
Borders UK.
Daniya
DeBrito
Daniya lives
in Chessington, Surrey (yes, its a World of Adventures) and works
in the City for Fortis Bank in Project Finance. Daniya's
involvement includes looking at the finances of OPS and how best
to manage them, "banking" advice and distributing
the donations.
Ross
Dickinson
Ross teaches English at a school in Somerset. He's a mean guitarist
and enjoys catching the odd wave (and occasionally headplanting
the reef). His linguistic genius has made him head of OPS newsletter
operations. He sometimes acts as a double for Mr Burns.
Marcus
Fairhurst
Marcus' enthusiasm for OPS knows no bounds. Rafting included.
Dave
Hartley The son of a farmer, Dave works in a big office all day and likes to daydream. His dream job is to be head bacon sandwich taster at Harrods.

"I am training to become a chartered accountant and work with charities in the audit of their accounts. Getting involved in the One Percent Scheme is a great opportunity for me, as it's a chance to get involved with the 'other side' and see my work from a different perspective. I'm excited by aims of OPS and the enthusiasm of everyone involved, and feel privileged to help out!"
